Bangkok Day 4: Wat Pho, Yodpiman River Walk, Chinatown, Asiatique

Fourth day in Bangkok, my destinations are all reachable by boat. I rode the orange flag boat and each trip costs 15 Baht. First stop was Wat Pho - The Temple of Reclining Buddha. I missed out temple trip during my last visit in Bangkok so this time I was determined to visit both Wat Pho and Wat Arun.

You are reminded to wear long pants and shirts with sleeves when visiting the temples, if not you will need to wear some kind of robe to cover your body. After I entered Wat Pho, I can see the massive Buddha laying there and it was spectacular. Unfortunately, the feet was under maintenance so I couldn't take a full shot of the Buddha. The temple was actually bigger than I was expected and I used more than an hour to walk around. If you want to experience the local culture and enjoy peaceful atmosphere, temple is a must in your itinerary.

Too bad that I couldn't capture the feet

After we left Wat Pho, the weather was so hot so we got ourselves a coconut ice-cream. It was good but there was a better one which I will reveal where to get it in future post.
So pretty, isn't it?

How to get there: SkyTrain to Saphan Taksin Station S6. (Silom Line), Take Exit 2 and go to Chao Phraya River Express Boat Pier.Take boat heading to Tien Pier (N.8) and walk straight to Wat Pho

We wanted to go Wat Arun but it was under maintenance. Kinda disappointed about it because it was supposed to be temple trip on that day. Next stop was Yodpiman River Walk. We never planned this in our itinerary but we saw this building and we decided to stop. What I would said about this place is you totally can skip this, there was not much things too see or shop. There's a Boots in there so if you want to buy some toiletries you can go there.

Wat Arun. I will visit you next time

By the time we finished visiting River Walk, we were hungry and it was time for us to visit Chinatown (Yaowarat). It's basically a food haven there and a wide selection of Chinese food and some Thai food. The moment I found the street, it seems like I'm not in Thailand anymore. The streets are very similar with Hong Kong and full of Chinese culture. However, the food is the highlight there.

How to get there: Take boat upriver to Ratchawongse Pier (N.5)and walk straight towards Yaowarat Road. Search Yaowarat at google map and you will see the whole street on your right.

Last stop of the day was Asiatique The Riverfront. We needed to go back central pier and ride the Asiatique shuttle boat. The line was crazy and we needed to wait quite some time until our turn. The sky was getting dark and the view along the boat ride was magnificent. Asiatique has different sections such as food, clothing and many more. The price was not cheap and there was nothing for me to buy. There's a Naraya there and I bought a tissue box cover which is so pretty. We then went to Mango Tango to have dessert and relax. At the end of the day, we just enjoyed ourselves in a bar and have some beer.

It was okay
